Trustee Recruitment at The Haemochromatosis Society

Board-TableTHS is actively seeking new trustees to join the current board following the resignation of long standing trustees Janet Fernau and David Widden at our AGM last month.

In particular, new trustees with skills and experience in fundraising, dealing with regulatory/governance issues, and media/communications are needed.

Chairman Howard Don said “We are keen to expand the board and to take the opportunity to bring in some of the skills we need to support our growing and evolving organisation. We have undertaken a review following three new appointments last year and two resignations last month, and identified fundraising, governance and communications as priority areas.”

Trustees have a legal obligation to take responsibility for the financial management and strategic direction of a charity. Appointments are generally for a period of three years with an opportunity to stand for re-election at the end of each term.

As well as those legal responsibilities, the commitment involves attending 4-6 meetings each year, taking an active role in planning the charity’s future, being prepared to get involved in the delivery of project work, and being willing to represent the society at other meetings and events.
