03-09 June was World Haemochromatosis Week (WHW) and so many of you got involved with awareness raising activities.
This year’s campaign was focused on #TellTen, trying to get all patients, members and supporters to #TellTen other people about haemochromatosis. We’re were very pleased to see so many people talking about haemochromatosis. We saw this clearly on social media was where there was a lot of awareness activity. In fact, the video created for the week reached 26,449 people on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram which means that everyone did such a great job getting involved in the campaign.
Hopefully this means that we have reached even more people that didn’t know about haemochromatosis.
Apart social media, where #TeamIronOverload made videos, shared posts and added frames to their profile pictures, we had many members putting posters around surgeries, holding awareness events in their area and at their work. It was great to see that everyone really got involved in the campaign and spread awareness.
During the week, Rowlinsons Solicitors also held a Charity Quiz Night to raise money for HUK and tied in with WHW! The event was brilliantly organised and raised over £1386.87! A huge thank you to Rowlinsons and those that supported the Charity Quiz Night and WHW 2019 in this way!
This year was a huge success, and we hope to build on this next year, and with the support of our members, donors and volunteers, we can reach even more people!
These are some of the photos that people posted on social media and sent into Haemochromatosis UK that we loved!
